Welcome to Inspect Test & Tag

The AS/NZS 3760:2003 In-service safety inspection and testing of electrical equipment, foreword states:

"In-service testing is necessary for the safety of persons using the equipment and for the proper discharge of the obligations of employers and employees, as listed in legislation covering occupational health and safety matters."

Test and tag is the procedure for the safety checking of plug in electrical appliances, power boards, extension leads and 30mA RCD's etc to the Standard required by AS/NZS 3760.

Workplaces in Australia must be able to demonstrate safe systems of work, including electrical safety. Portable appliances including power tools, extension leads and RCD's are items that are frequently used by workers, and are open to abuse and deteriation from hostile environmental conditions which can cause them to become electrically unsafe.

Test and Tag is a strategy which minimises the risk of electrical shock to workers. Each piece of equipment is inspected, electrically tested, and then tagged (labelled) at designated regular intervals. A record of these tests is kept as part of your overall Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) risk management, and also for producing to a Work Cover Inspector upon request.

Workplace Inspection

Work Safe inspectors

Work Safe inspectors ensure that workplaces are complying with health and safety laws. They are always ready to provide help and advice, but when required, they will enforce the law.

So, it makes sense to ensure that your workplace is safe.

What Does Test & Tagging Achieve

Test and Tagging:

  • Maximises the safety of Personnel and Customers.

  • Helps ensure safety of Business Assets - For example, a faulty plug top melting is a potential fire source.

  • Minimises Personal Liability - Managers, Supervisors and individual employees can be personally liable for unsafe acts and incidents in the workplace.

  • Minimises the risk of Data Loss - Faulty power boards can overheat and cause data losses in computer systems.

  • Reduces overall Risk - Work Safe Compliant Testing following the test procedures for portable electrical equipment as defined in Australian Standard AS/NZ 3760:2003.
